Breathing Time

We aim to show that partner acrobatics and juggling are not merely technical displays, but a language conveying physical states. Starting from the fundamental act of breathing, we treat it as an action that can be amplified, transformed, and materialized, allowing the audience to witness often-overlooked internal changes. Breathing is no longer just a background; it emerges as the core factor influencing movement, participating in every weight shift, balance, and transition.
The work focuses on the nuances between weight-bearing and weightlessness. When two bodies touch, support, or part, the way breath alters their state and relationship becomes a focus of constant observation. Through minimalist and restrained structures, performers strip away narrative and emotion, directing attention to these subtle yet continuous shifts. Rhythm is not dictated by music but generated between inhalation and exhalation; time is stretched or compressed, creating a viewing experience distinct from the everyday.
Under this treatment, breath becomes the medium connecting individuals and the foundation of rhythm. As the body fluctuates with breath, space is no longer a static container but a field constantly expanding, contracting, and being redistributed. The audience is guided not just to understand the execution of movement, but to sense how a body exists in the present, maintaining itself amidst constant flux.
Thus, the work does not convey specific stories, but invites the audience to slow their pace. By focusing on the performers' breathing, viewers may become aware of their own. When attention shifts inward, viewing becomes a shared experience, returning the perceiver to a direct and fundamental state.

In Parallel is a movement research team centered on the fusion of partner acrobatics and dance. Their practice focuses on spatial relationships, weight transfer, and the generation of rhythm, while examining transitions between physical states. Using acrobatic techniques and contemporary movement vocabulary, the team intuitively explores the threshold between stability and imbalance, control and release. Movement is not a fixed form but is generated through constant response, keeping the body open and fluid within the relationship.
